Cinematic Orchestra Man w/ the Movie Camera 6a

produced by VUFKU in 1929. excerpt from a camera operator's diary.
this film is an experiment in cinematic communication of real events. without the help of intertitles, without the help of a script, without the help of theatre.
this experimental art work aims at creating a truly international language of cinema based on its absolute separation from the language of theatre and literature.

MY ARCHITECT A Son's Journey

The mystery of Louis Kahn's life was as compelling as his buildings. Thirty years after his death, his filmmaker son goes in search of the true Lou with the documentary My Architect.
Was it the sort of film you always knew you were going to make but kept putting off?
No, I kept trying to do it in other ways. I wrote a screenplay about a son who discovers that the father he thought was dead isn't--which of course was always a dream of mine. It sort of reverberates throughout the film. As a little boy, I never quite believed that Lou was gone. I would always look for him in crowds. I'd see a white-haired man turning the corner and think maybe it was him.
One morning fifty boxes of tape arrived. My producers and I went through the film and put it up on reels. And it was like Christmas morning! Now another kind of filmmaker might look for Lou speaking cogently about architecture. But I was interested in the way he moved, the way he walked, the way he talked, the way he looked confused, things that revealed his personality. I couldn't resist using those shots. We use Lou a lot like a ghost. He's someone who appears and then is gone. So for quite a while you see little glimpses of him, which was always the way I saw him. In a way, the film was like conjuring him, bringing him back from the dead for two hours.

They say a work is never really finished, it's abandoned. It was true for Lou. He was constantly drawing, being convinced of it, and the next day realizing he could do it a better way. It drove people nuts. They'd think: "Let's just build the damn thing already!" but he wasn't ready.

Tchaikovskys 1812 overture

Cover to V For Vendetta. Art by David Lloyd.
The film's story was adapted from an Alan Moore comic originally published between 1982 and 1985 in the British comic anthology Warrior. These comics were later compiled into a graphic novel and published again in the United States under DC's Vertigo imprint and in the United Kingdom under Titan Books. (+wiki)

Viola! In view a humble vaudevillian veteran,

cast vicariously as both victim and villain

by the vicissitudes of fate.

This visage, no mere veneer of vanity,

is it vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished.

However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone

vexation, stands vivified, and has vowed to

vanquish these venal and virulent vermin

vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious

and voracious violation of volition.

The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta,

held as a votive, not in vain, for the value

and veracity of such shall one day

vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous.

Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers

most verbose, so let me simply add that

it's my very good honor to meet you

and you may call me V.

On 30 September 2006, Antony Gormley's Waste Man was burned to the ground in front of an audience of thousands in the seaside town of Margate. Constructed entirely of the detritus of modern consumer society – planks of wood, tables, chairs, keyboards, paintings, dartboards, a front door, toilet seats - the 25m high man took over four weeks to construct by Gormley, his assistant, a team of professional riggers and a small army of enthusiastic volunteers from Margate. The building and burning of the Waste Man will form a definitive part of Penny Woolcock's epic film, Exodus, a modern retelling of the biblical story of Exodus exploring themes of identity, migration and great movements of people across the globe.

Waste Man, filmed and directed by Caroline Deeds, follows the building of Gormley’s creation and explores the relationship between this small seaside community and the building of a work from an internationally acclaimed artist.

HIDDEN INSIDE MOUNTAINS is a film of short stories about nature, artifice and dreams. Located in a fictitious world of theatrical spaces, the stories unfold through music, gesture, text and the poetry of visual images. The film’s haunting music features violins, bells, dog barks and melody as well as Anderson’s signature electronic sounds. Both joy and loss are caught in this film in Japanese and English. Running time is 25 minutes.
