throbbing gristle - part two - the endless not

Throbbing Gristle announce live events
Part Two - The Endless Not out 2nd April 2007
THE FIRST NEW STUDIO ALBUM IN OVER 25 YEARS

THROBBING GRISTLE (Chris Carter, Peter Christopherson, Genesis P. Orridge and Cosey Fanni Tutti) reveal details of unique and unmissable special live events in 2007, following the release of their first studio album in over 25 years. Part Two - The Endless Not, is released on Industrial / Mute on 2nd April 2007.

On the 1st, 2nd and 3rd June 2007 Throbbing Gristle will return to the Institute of Contemporary Art, London (ica.org.uk) for a series of public 'Recording Sessions'. Each session will be approximately two hours long and limited to 140 people per session. Ticket holders will receive a special limited edition poster commemorating their attendance of these sessions.

These groundbreaking sessions see Throbbing Gristle return, 30 years on, to the scene of their infamous Prostitution Show and will allow the audience a unique opportunity to follow the previous working methods of TG in the recording of Heathen Earth (1980). The sessions signify a return to the ICA, the place where TG officially launched in October 1976 with a performance that famously resulted in questions in parliament and the late Tory MP Sir Nicholas Fairbairn dubbing them Wreckers Of Civilisation.

Prior to the ICA show, Throbbing Gristle will perform twice and co-curate a day at the Donau Festival, Krems, near Vienna, Austria (donaufestival.at) on 29th and 30th April on a bill that will include Alan Vega and Phill Niblock amongst others.

The festival, entitled 'Unprotected Games', runs over two weekends. TG will be performing on the second weekend and both events will be performed with a full quadrophonic sound system.

Part Two - The Endless Not, the first new album since 1980's Heathen Earth, is released on Industrial / Mute on 2nd April 2007. Initial pressings will be as the Special Edition Totemic Gift CD. Each CD will include one of a series of four different TG Totemic Gifts in either copper, bone, rubber or wood. Each one, an edition of 1000, was handmade in Thailand under Peter Christopherson's supervision.

From the band's formation through to 1981 and with the release of a string of albums including The Second Annual Report, 20 Jazz Funk Greats and the legendary 24 Hours Cassette Boxed Set (reissued on CD by the Grey Area of Mute in 2002) Throbbing Gristle troubled eardrums, shattered preconceptions and changed lives.

The repercussions of their sonic, ideological and industrial experiments are still being felt today. Throbbing Gristle consistently deployed their music as a weapon attacking the apparatus of the music industry. TG set up their own imprint, Industrial Records, for the distribution of their noises and even incorporated the art gallery practice of making special limited edition hand-assembled LPs, pre-packaged videos and live cassettes.

Throbbing Gristle are currently nearing the completion of the limited edition TGV DVD Box Set.
